Our Philosophy

Your thoughts belong to you. Voices In My Head was created to provide a calm, private space where you can organize your thoughts, reflect on your emotions, and better understand yourself.

We believe privacy is essential to honest reflection, and we are committed to treating your personal information with respect and transparency.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:

• Account information, such as email address and authentication details
• Journal entries you create
• Voice recordings you choose to create
• Images or files you choose to upload
• Mood check-ins and reflection history
• Preferences, personalization settings, and language settings
• Basic app usage information used to improve the experience
• Crash reports and diagnostic information used to improve stability

How We Use Information

• To create and maintain your account
• To save and sync your journal entries
• To personalize your experience
• To provide optional AI-powered reflections and prompts
• To improve app reliability, security, and performance
• To respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your journal content for advertising.

AI Processing

If you choose to use AI-powered features, portions of your journal entries, prompts, mood check-ins, or related context may be securely processed by trusted AI providers in order to generate personalized responses.

AI features are optional and are intended for reflection and organization. AI responses may be incomplete or inaccurate and should not be treated as medical, legal, financial, or professional advice.

Voice Recording Storage and Backup

Voice recordings are stored locally on your device by default and are not uploaded to our servers. Pro users may choose to back up their voice recordings to our servers by enabling the backup option in Settings. This setting is disabled by default, so your recordings are uploaded only with your consent. You can turn backup off at any time in Settings. Turning backup off stops further uploads; recordings already backed up remain stored on our servers, so they are not lost if you reinstall the app or your subscription lapses. If you want your backed-up recordings erased, use “Delete my server backups” in Settings — this permanently deletes the copies stored on our servers. Recordings stored on your device are not affected.

AI-Powered Transcription

Pro users may choose to generate text transcriptions of their voice recordings. To provide this feature, the selected audio recording is securely transmitted to our servers and processed using Google's Gemini AI service. This means the audio is shared with a third-party AI service for transcription. The recording is transmitted only when the user initiates the transcription feature. Audio sent for transcription is used only to generate the transcript and is not retained on our servers once processing is complete. The transcript is saved to the journal entry the recording belongs to.

Third-Party Services

The app may use trusted third-party services to operate and improve the product, including services such as Firebase, Google Gemini or other AI providers, Apple services, Mixpanel, Sentry, AppsFlyer, and RevenueCat.

Advertising and Measurement

We use AppsFlyer and RevenueCat to understand how people find and use Voices In My Head and to measure how our ads perform. To do this, we may share limited information with advertising partners such as Meta, including app installs, in-app activity (like completing onboarding or starting a subscription), device information, and IP address. We never share your journal entries, voice recordings, photos, or mood check-ins for advertising.

On iPhone, you choose whether we can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, we won't access your device's advertising identifier. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to opt out of your information being shared for targeted advertising. To make a request, contact support@voicesinmyhead.app.

Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect your information. No online system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to safeguard your data and reduce unnecessary collection.

Your Choices and Rights

You may be able to access, export, edit, or delete your journal content. You may also delete your account from within the app or request assistance through support.

When your account is deleted, associated personal information will be deleted within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, or legitimate operational requirements.

Children's Privacy

Voices In My Head is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Not Medical Care

Voices In My Head is designed for journaling, reflection, and personal wellness. It is not therapy, medical advice, diagnosis, crisis support, or a substitute for professional care.

If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, contact your local emergency services or a qualified healthcare professional immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the app or website.
